4-H Summer Day Camp

July 6, 2018

” 2018 Theme: Super Heroes Training Camp”

Super heroes-male and female

This is an update on 4-H Summer Camp after the extensive weather-related flooding we had last weekend in the area. We are sorry to have to announce changes in our summer camp program after we received a phone call from the Camp Northwoods facility on Tuesday June 19, letting us know that their facility will be closed for the foreseeable future due to the extensive road and camp damage sustained in the recent storms. Because of this, we will not be able to offer our regular overnight 4-H Summer Camp at Camp Northwoods this year.

However, our Superhero camp counselors and staff rallied on Wednesday to come up with an alternative camp experience that will take place on Friday, July 6 at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center. This will be a day-long Superhero Training Camp that will begin at 9:30 am and finish up with a campfire and talent show in the evening

The theme this year is “Super Heroes Training Camp” and our program will be full of fun related activities.

Campers will arrive between 9-10 a.m. on Friday morning, July 6th .

Campers will be supervised by trained high school age counselors,  4-H Youth Development staff from Ashland and Bayfield Counties, and 4-H certified adult volunteers.

The new cost of the day camp will be $15. We will provide dinner and are asking campers to bring a bag lunch. Come with:

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear you don’t mind getting wet
  • Bag lunch and water bottle
  • A small backpack or bag with things you need for the day (may include sunscreen or bug spray, a change of socks, your cape J, etc.)
  • Completed Health form – if campers have medications they will be responsible for them, but we need to know if they are bringing any meds to camp

Please confirm with us as soon as possible whether your child will be attending July 6. If you choose not to register for the day camp, whatever payment you have made will be refunded. If you do choose to register for the day camp we will refund your balance minus the $15.

Please bring the completed .Youth Health Form   (one for each child) with you to camp.

Though the weather, its impact on facilities, and changes in this year’s camp program are both beyond our control and cause for some disappointment, we’ve worked really hard with our counselors to come up with a great program for our community children and youth.  We look forward to spending time with your kids!

Note: Camp finances are run through the Bayfield County UWEX office. Please make your checks out to Bayfield County UWEX .
